Topics in Domestic Policy

The purpose of this unit is to examine how ques- tions of Biblical justice relate to the doings of government. During this course you will be intro- duced to the dynamics of presidential politics, study a range of issues raised by current policy makers, and try to understand the relationship of these issues to the larger constitutional struggle and to the framework of justice. The topics vary according to the happenings of the semester. In the past, these seminars have focused on such things as welfare reform, youth and violence, and presidential campaigns. You will also study com- peting evangelical views of the role of govern- ment and in the light of Biblical reflection about justice, begin to formulate your own views about the proper role of government and other institutions in making for a more just society.
