Description

An introduction to the syntax and semantics of programming languages. Basic concepts: evolution of procedural languages; object-oriented paradigm and languages; declarative (non-algorithmic) languages; scripting paradigm and languages. Actual programming languages are used to illustrate the concepts and virtual architectures of procedural, functional, and object-oriented languages. Lab fee. Periodically. rerequisite: COSC 1408.
