Description

A course on the unifying principles of genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. This will be a practical course to teach the techniques needed for research in modern molecular biology. Techni- ques will include cloning, transformation, South- ern blot, PCR, DNA sequencing, protein isolation, Western blot, and 2-D gels. Required for Bioin- formatics Concentrations. Offered Fall Semesters Prerequisites: BIOL 1401/14L1, COSC 1301, MATH 1301 OR 1405, and an additional 3-4 hour course in Biology for Biology majors, Computer Science for Computer Science majors, or Math for Math majors. Prerequisite: BIOL 1401 Beginning Fall 2009 Replaced by BIOL 1406 3-1-5 Lab is BIOL 43L2
